Self-aligning pads from norelem are real multi-talents.

The body of the self-aligning pads is made from high quality steel (the group 02005 also has stainless steel bodies ). In this body sit either a hardened steel flattened ball or a ball made from POM, both of which can swivel up to 20°. They align automatically to the inclined faces of workpieces.

An exception is the self-righting group 02004, these do not have flattened balls.

Self-aligning pads from norelem can can take loads of 2 to 220 kN depending on the version used. The pattern cut into the face of the flattened ball ensures a secure hold. Some self-aligning pads have an integrated O-ring which prevents dirt and other particles getting between the cup and ball and so ensures uniform movement. The ball of most self-aligning pads also have a rotation lock.

The top face of the ball or insert is smooth, serrated, impregnated with diamond dust or has an abrasion resistant, non-colouring polyurethane layer.

The self-aligning pads are available with tool steel, POM or stainless steel balls which have diamond impregnated, polyurethane or carbide top faces.

The top faces are either permanent or available as exchangeable inserts. The latter are very flexible and cost-effective.

Other special types of self-aligning pad are height adjustable, have male or female threads or have support faces that return automatically to the start position - these are especially suitable as workpiece grippers. For extreme production conditions, long-life self-aligning pads with corrosion and acid resistant balls are available.
