norelem anchor points: Ring bolts, hoist rings and lifting bolts

The norelem anchor point product range includes ring bolts and ring nuts, swivel ring bolts / shackles, hoist rings, lifting pins, slip hooks / swivel hooks / connecting links, D-rings and matching accessories such as round slings, chain links and lifting slings.

Anchor points

The norelem anchor points fall under the lifting tackle product family.

For a mechanical engineer, an anchor point refers to a screw-in or weld-on fastening element. This can include ring bolts, lifting bolts or hoist rings. These anchor points are used to connect lifting elements (i.e. chains or slings) to the load being lifted.

Anchor point application sectors

Anchor points are important operational elements which are designed for everyday usage. Both tools and machines can be safely transported using anchor points.

Additional application sectors are:

 -  Lashing down goods
 -  As restraints
 -  As a movement-supporting function during transport.

Anchor point advantages:

Anchor points from norelem meet important safety standards. The norelem anchor points are characterised by the following features:

 -  Durability
 -  Stability
 -  Safety

Ring bolts DIN 580

Ring bolts

In practice, ring bolts are always used where the hoisting elements have to support heavy loads. A ring bolt is very robust with high tensile strength and therefore has a good load-bearing capacity. For this reason, ring bolts are ideally suited for load suspension or anchor points in machine construction and on construction sites.

Ring bolt range

norelem has various types of ring bolt in its range. The thread is always directly adjacent the ring-shaped eyelet. For a male thread, the specialist speaks of an ring bolt, for a female thread of a ring nut.

Materials

Steel versions are produced according to DIN 580, stainless steel versions are similar to DIN 580. Grade 10 ring bolts are plastic coated and have a pivoting ring. This enables an alignment of the forces and prevents the ring bolt working loose or overtightening (lateral slinging up to 90° is possible / ring can rotate 360° when screw is tightened). The ring bolts can be used at temperatures ranging from -20°C to + 100°C.

Note: The optimum load rating is only achieved when the entire thread is screwed into the mating part.

Swivel ring bolt

A swivel ring bolt (also known as a swivel eye bolt or rotating eye bolt) is a screw-in slinging point with a ball bearing. The rotatable swivel ring bolts are meant for lifting heavy loads which have to be rotated or turned. Swivel ring bolts are also used for securing loads.

Swivel ring bolt range

The swivel ring bolts from norelem are made of steel and are grade 8. The surface is red powder-coated. The lifting characteristics conform to the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.

Note: For the payload to be valid it must be ensured that the ring is in line with the load. The swivel ring bolt must lie flat against the seating face and must always be completely screwed in.

Bow shackle

Shackles

Shackles are used to take up tractive forces. They are often used as connecting links for rigging systems to connect chains or cables to a fixed component and take up the resulting forces. Most shackles are lightweight and convenient, with a high permissible load.

norelem offers bow and D shackles with threaded bolts.

Lifting pins self-locking

Lifting pins

The TÜV certified lifting pins from norelem are used as quick-locking lifting elements. Lifting pins work on the same principle as ball lock pins. The balls are disengaged by pressing the aluminium push button. Once the push button is released, the balls lock automatically and quickly in the respective locking element (locating bushes for lifting pins).

Lifting pin range

norelem offers steel lifting pins with a manganese phosphate coating. A stainless steel version and the corresponding locating bushes are also available in the online shop. The shackle is free to move and is made from steel or stainless steel. All lifting pins are protected from corrosion and designed for temperatures of up to 250°C.

Hoisting rings

Hoist rings are lifting elements that can rotate through 360°, which enables better adaption to the loads to which the hoist ring is subjected to. In contrast to fixed anchor points, hoist rings can take up the full load from any direction.

Application areas

There are many different variants of hoist ring in the norelem online shop. The hoist ring used depends on the application.
For example:

 -  Hoist rings with an Envirolox® coating for extreme ambient conditions
 -  360° rotation hoist rings, grade 10 for high quality requirements
 -  Swivel bales with axial ring for lateral forces

Versions

All hoist rings are subjected to a visual inspection after the load capacity test. There are black oxidised steel and stainless steel versions available.

Crane hooks

The classic crane hook is available from norelem. Crane hooks are used to safely lift heavy loads in the construction industry, plant construction or in logistics processes. The crane hook joins the lifting equipment (sling or chain) to the respective equipment being lifted.

Crane hook range

The crane hooks from norelem are made from plastic coated steel and are all grade 10. There are hooks with a forged safety catch, swivel hooks, chain links or round sling hooks (grade 8).

The swivel hook is practically a pivoting crane hook (eye can be rotated by 360°), the advantage being that kinetic energy in the form of torsion cannot act directly on the load.

Note: When lifting the load the safety catch closes automatically and is securely locked by a locking mechanism on the rear of the crane hook. To open the system, the locking mechanism must be operated manually.

Anchor point accessories

In addition to crane/slip hooks, hoist rings/swivel bales, lifting pins, shackles, swivel ring bolts and ring bolts, the norelem online shop also offers many accessories. these include round slings, connecting links and lifting slings.

Connecting links

The norelem steel connecting links are inserted as coupling link in a chain sling between suspension link/chain, chain/chain and crane hook/chain.
Round slings

Round slings

The norelem round slings conform to DIN EN 1492-2. The norelem round slings consist of high-strength, endless polyester fibre strands. These polyester fibre strands are encased in a sturdy protective sheath made of seamlessly woven polyester. The protective sheathing is additionally provided with a polyurethane-impregnated, abrasion-resistant surface. The nominal load capacity and the tonne stripes (one stripe per tonne load capacity) are either captively woven into or printed onto the protective sheathing of the round slings. The safety label with CE marking and technical information is firmly sewn onto the round sling. The colour of the round sling corresponds to the colour code assigned to the load capacities for textile slings.
