The countdown to the norelem Race Camp 2017 has begun. On June 22-23, 19 Formula Student teams from three European countries will start their engines and put their race cars to the test.

norelem made no secret of its mission statement for this year’s Race Camp: it had to be bigger and better than ever. The two-day preliminary event at the Steißlingen test track near Lake Constance allows those taking part to test their race cars in competitive conditions, providing them with the best possible opportunity to prepare for the Formula Student competition season.

Formula Student is an international competition allowing students to design and build their own race cars: competitions in Hockenheim, Silverstone and other venues worldwide round off the season in style. norelem has supported numerous teams for years by providing products and, last year, with the invitation to the test event.

“The feedback after last year’s norelem Race Camp was phenomenal. We noticed what a huge appetite the teams had for testing their cars. They often don’t have access to test tracks or expert feedback on the static disciplines,” says Timo Reile, Head of the norelem Academy and organiser of Race Camp. Thanks to norelem, both will be on offer at the event. A jury consisting of Formula Student alumni and motorsport experts will put the teams to the test in the static disciplines ‘Engineering Design, Cost Report and Business Plan’ and provide feedback on presentation and content. The students will also test their cars on the racetrack, where the focus will be on practising dynamic disciplines such as acceleration (in the acceleration test) or autocross (in the handling course). The agenda also includes training drivers and adjusting and testing various setups. Additionally, the teams can benefit from interaction with each other and team-building within their own group.
