This year Tim Schobel from the University of Stuttgart placed first. He impressed the jury with his project “Design and prototyping of a compact, electric drive unit with free-wheel function for a rollator”. When driving uphill, the drive unit provides the necessary force to drive the rollator independently and serves as a support when going downhill. The user is thus safer and does not have to exert as much effort.

Class TM2C of the Engineering School in Munich garnered the second place award this year. As part of a project entitled “Planning, Design, Production and Programming a 4.0-capable Production Plant”, in the space of nine months, 29 students developed a production plant which will be used in the future for the control and automation technology classroom.

Third place went to the three students Sebastian Benedikt, Pierre Breitwieder and Matthias Henkel of the Engineering School Allgäu Kempten. With their twin wheeler, the students demonstrated both creativity and design skills. The twin wheeler can be used for leisure activities and as a second car.
