The spaceflight simulation is developing "step by step" from a digital draft design to a real object:
1) Setting up the swivel bracket:
The almost three metre long swivel bracket weighting 100 kg (visible in the photo) was successfully set up. The satellite models for the flight simulation will be swivelled at a later stage with this key component.The accurate high-quality bearings are therefore a must-have!
As with the construction of every prototype, unforeseen technical difficulties had to be overcome. Dozens of chain links had to be reworked so that the drag chain guide works without problems for the electric cables on the swivel bracket's rotary guide.
2) Draft design of a target satellite model:
Two groups of students on the spaceflight technology work placement, analyse the large number of communications satellites in orbit and on this basis try to design a generic model relevant to the proposed simulation.
